"Portrait of Florence Nightingale" Enter Florence Nightingale’s name in the Google Image Search website and you’ll immediately recognise the first picture you see. The saintly Florence stands in a spotless ward in the middle of the night with her head tilted slightly to one side like a suffering religious icon. Her glass and metal lamp shines on the beds of sleeping soldiers as she gathers up her spotless white apron and prepares to move on, checking ward after ward to make sure all is well. |

"High Park Street Reservoir" The next stage in a £500,000 redevelopment of a former Liverpool reservoir is under way. High Park Street Reservoir in Dingle, South Liverpool, is being transformed into a visitor attraction, which could include a roof-top restaurant. A viability study will be completed in the next two months on various proposals for the English heritage site. Restoration work to ensure the building is watertight and the brickwork is returned to its original colour is due to be completed in October. |

"High Park Street Reservoir" A 150-year-old reservoir could be the catalyst for the regeneration of Toxteth. Restoration work has begun on the new disused structure, donated by North West Water for community use. It is hoped its transformation will not only create new jobs but become a popular tourist attraction, turning High Park Street into the nerve centre of the community. The move comes after the water giant held discussions on the reservoir’s future with Dingle 2000 Development Trust, Liverpool City Council and government representatives over the last two years. It has now awarded the Trust £100,000 in cash, benefits worth a further £65,000 and a 125-year lease. Trust Director Roger O’Hara said: “North West water’s generosity has provided a chance for us to develop High Park Street as the centre of thriving community." |
