Dingle 2000 has three major roles:
As a community catalyst, it will act in response to needs, by drawing together individuals and organisations to support, develop and run projects. The Trust will ensure it is aware of any possibilities arising from changes or developments at local, national, governmental or European level. It will on a regular basis draw together individuals and organisations to inform them of potential possibilities stemming form these changes. It will encourage individuals and groups to take on community projects, to form new joint projects between groups or the development of new organisations in the area to proceed with projects for the benefit of their groups. In its leading agency role the Trust will be responsive to the needs of the area and will continue to initiate and operate community-led projects, which will give added value to the regenerative process to ensure sustained economic, social and community development. It will be a centre and provider of linkages with other providers and projects that individuals and local community groups can call on for assistance and support in the form of expertise and administration. It will, therefore initiate activity across a wide range of projects and in different ways. It will play, in certain circumstances, a leading role, while in others it will act as a catalyst, at other times it will offer assistance to other players in the area. It should be seen as an organisation that will offer a service to other local groups. It might approach local groups and suggest they take on a particular project. At other times, it may be appropriate for Dingle 2000 to take on the project itself. Dingle 2000 can, and should, play a brokerage and co-ordination role in the area. The setting up of a Development Trust for Dingle is not just a good idea it's already in place and has started to deliver. What we now need is staff and premises to carry out the programme and, crucial to this, is a capacity building programme. OUR AIMS ARE: To create a common purpose, by means of a broad partnership, to develop the regeneration of the Dingle area through economic, environmental and social improvement to improve the quality of life, confidence and self-esteem of its residents and groups working within its boundaries.
To enable the delivery of jobs and training to local people
To liaise with the local community
To help ensure the physical fabric of the area is maintained to agreed standards
To develop, when appropriate, its own projects
